WELCOME TO 2019!!!!

Whoop whoop. I hope everyone had a fantastic time celebrating the start of a new year. It’s a New Year, which requires a New Plan to create a New You!

I want you to take time to reflect back on 2018 today. Grab a sheet of paper and jot down the answers to these questions:

What worked well for you in 2018?

What setbacks in your exercises & nutrition did you have?

How can you minimise them from reoccurring again this year?

What do you need to improve on this year?

What are you striving for by the end of 2019? In your personal life…..in your health……in your mindset…..?

HEALTH/FITNESS  They say people and events happen in your life and provide you with a lesson to learn. Are you stopping to take note of those lessons or are you too busy racing by them? When you’re doing a workout are you focusing on your muscles working and you being ONE MORE STEP CLOSER TO YOUR GOAL….or are you thinking of what else you have planned in the day and just ticking of the “I worked out box”???

There are a lot of errors that occur when your mind is elsewhere during a session such as:

  1. Moving too quickly- because you just want to get it done
  2. Throwing or swinging the weight instead of lifting it- because you just want to get it done
  3. Altering your body position/posture- because it makes it easier for you to get done

When you focus on what you are doing you keep good form and technique thereby working the muscles that are target for the selected exercise! You all know I’m a stickler for this and won’t count a rep if you’ve done any of the above 3 actions.

 MINDSET There are numerous benefit to exercising the mind. Studies show spending time daily working on cognitive function doing different types of puzzles (brain teasers, crossword, word find, Sudoku etc) aid in prevention of degenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s. Help your mind muscle grow by blocking off some time to “be a kid again” and do a puzzle.
